This tea by tea master Zhang Juncheng won the First Prize 頭等獎 in the 2024 Winter Tieguanyin competition held by the The Farmers’ Association of Muzha, Taipei. It is a well-oxidized tea with medium roast that highlights its rich woody taste and long-lasting after-taste.
The Hongxin Wai Wei Tao cultivar (the original Tieguanyin cultivar brought to Taiwan) is harder to grow than the now more popular Jin Xuan and is not as sweet in taste so it's much harder to find. Enjoy the classic Tieguanyin in its purest form. The Tieguanyin Tea Competition is held every spring and winter. Around 500 teas are sampled and graded by the judges.
