Behold our very first seasonal tea! Gui Fei (imperial concubine) oolong stands out as a unique Taiwanese tea, renowned for its distinct flavor profile. This particular Gei Fei was released as “Mao Cha,” or “unfinished tea” with a big reason behind it: the tea is already excellent as is! This is a bug-bitten, properly dried, ball-rolled oolong, but it hasn’t gone through the important final refining stages which involves mellowing and baking. Despite its incomplete status, the decision to offer this tea as-is stems from its exceptional quality fresh from the factory floor.
One of the defining characteristics of Gui Fei oolong is its pronounced honey flavor, reminiscent of wild honey with nuances of minerals, wild flowers and roasted nuts. This honeyed essence permeates the tea's color, texture, and taste, delivering a comforting sweetness. Additionally, this tea exhibits a refreshing fruitiness upon consumption, akin to the experience of enjoying high mountain teas.
Ideal for the transitional season of Autumn, this Gui Fei will appeal to almost everyone! Since this is a seasonal tea that might not return next season, we've made our decision not to make a mascot for the limited quantity. So grab one while you still can :)
